So Far Yet So Near...

"Carrot and tomato and beans,
Beets and gourds, herbs and greens!"
- He pushed a cart up the road,
Till I waved to him, and he slowed.

On our street, he didn't sneeze,
Neither did he cough, gasp, or wheeze;
Protected against the wild virus,
He had brought fresh vegetables to us.

He left our order by the gate,
Prices weren't high, nor up for debate;
We bought enough for a week,
After all, our good fridge is no antique.

If only he used a mobile wallet,
And shunned notes and all they beget!
We concluded trade from afar,
But, were we safe in these days bizarre?

For two days, he's not come,
As we've keenly listened for his anthem;
Yes, he might be taking a rest,
Yet, might he be awaiting a scarce test?
