A Mind Trick...

Varied objects and actors in the scene,
Interactions unwholesome as could've been;
Disgust and dread, from the seen and unseen,
Oh the perils of an observation keen!

One heave, two heaves, and then three,
I can hear them marching to the jamboree;
The water but sprays them like the rain,
A defiance to admire despite the disdain.

A few steps to the left, and then right,
Have I no ammunition for this fight?
Could I blow them away in a hot current?
H'm, they must by now have pitched their tent.

Could I hope for a miracle from the Sun?
Is this an invasion that can be undone?
I see more of what I had seen before,
The prophesies of an unavoidable gore.

Maybe, I should attempt a mind trick,
Soothe my nerves, sew together a lyric;
I might as well perish on my own terms,
Rather than meekly submit to the germs.
