I was walking amid trees,
Feeling the sun off and on;
At work was the breeze,
Laying leaves on the lawn.
None did hem or haw,
Each the other tried to outdo;
Was it about avian law?
I chose to quickly pass through.
They'd learnt it by rote,
That hymn said in a monotone;
Heeding the audible moat,
I skirted around their zone.
Soon, I was in a stampede,
A herd that no one else heard;
To turn life into a creed,
Word wooed and vied with word.
Suddenly, I spotted it -
Joyous cries due to its hues;
With the merry wake lit,
Life held for words new cues.
Yet, had the rainbow been,
A daily festoon in the sky,
Just a foil in the scene,
Would it still catch my eye?
Feeling the sun off and on;
At work was the breeze,
Laying leaves on the lawn.
None did hem or haw,
Each the other tried to outdo;
Was it about avian law?
I chose to quickly pass through.
