We had swapped bits of text,
In print, they'd form a long trail;
To the question 'What next?'
Only one response did prevail.
Thus, we set out to meet,
And reached the spot agreed;
She merely smiled to greet,
As my arm flailed like a reed.
Between us was the street,
Narrow, to be used one way;
Set to cross, I did retreat,
As cars did speed and sway.
I looked at the cars' gait,
Each biting at another's tail,
She gestured that I wait,
I prodded my patience pale.
Would the traffic cease,
Both of us began to wonder;
It added to our unease,
A line of lights into the yonder.
Watching each passing car,
Our wait seemed to be in vain,
Till I saw something bizarre,
The same cars forming a train.
Was this a security drill?
Or was it a street motor race?
I pondered, but only till
I saw a plate and did place.
Of the plates I did spot,
Some had a familiar fragment,
Even those that did not,
Something to her, they'd meant.
I saw my buzzing phone:
'We should perhaps jaywalk,
To them, make it known,
That we shall not ever baulk.'
'So, it is them!' I said,
They had quite a notoriety;
She nodded her head,
On patrol was our society.
