To be special, unique,
And be recognized as such,
That's a thrill I seek,
Not that I succeed too much!
I've got off on praise,
For as long as I can recall,
But fear fills my gaze,
One of an irretrievable fall.
Wouldn't it be better,
To be cherished for being,
Freed from the fetter,
The exigency of achieving?
And so, I yen to matter,
As much as the One above;
Could anything flatter
Anybody, more than love?
And be recognized as such,
That's a thrill I seek,
Not that I succeed too much!
I've got off on praise,
For as long as I can recall,
But fear fills my gaze,
One of an irretrievable fall.
Wouldn't it be better,
To be cherished for being,
Freed from the fetter,
The exigency of achieving?
And so, I yen to matter,
As much as the One above;
Could anything flatter
Anybody, more than love?
