The End Of Love...

You were happy being kissed,
The unsaid you did understand;

Recalling what was promised,
You rue rebuffing them offhand.

No, not all, but much of them,
A house, not a hill-top mansion,
Not the moon, the blue gem,
A security beyond the passion.

You can't shake feeling sober,
You wish you weren't so awake;
You know, you know it's over,
As you itch to talk give and take.

Everything soon to fall apart,
You can't do much but regret;
To love is to pledge your heart,
Forever give and gratefully get.
