Secular In A Snap...

Beginning between the brows,
And tapering up to a menacing tip,
An old ideal he seemed to espouse,
Newly holding a sword in his grip.

Blood, sweat, and tears,
Had accrued their own arrears,
One, he’ll see to it, is disbursed,
Averred the ambition he nursed.

The saffron robed sages,
Invoked peace through hymns,
As they have for ages,
While blessing political whims.

The holy month begun,
The faithful on their fast,
The fearful bemoaned the Sun,
The day, to them, was vast.

As the dusk did set,
So was the fancy silverware;
Our man, getting off his jet,
Found a cap he could wear.

A banquet he was to host,
A feast of the most exotic food,
Would he gain a new post?
Him among them, would they include?

As the night grew quieter,
The next appointment neared;
With the man in the miter,
The virgin father, by many, revered.

Having visited the booth,
He knelt for the Eucharist,
A man so wedded to the truth,
Could they really resist?

The papers had the revelation,
He had been hugged tight,
Baptized by the congregation,
The Gurus backed his electoral fight.

The most popular man in town,
He, in a snap, was secular,
But, he found, scrolling down,
His feat wasn't singular!
