The Birthday Wish...

You must’ve made a wish,
As the candles were blown,
And lo!, before you could finish,
The seeds had been sown.

I assume you wanted love,
And happiness and serenity,
So, they had to but shove,
Me out, to bring in amenity.

Salvaging you from the rut –
That misery you don’t deserve
– Might have brought a glut,
Of woe that did unnerve…

But, you need the crucible,
To renew the one pristine,
Sullied by the verily fallible,
Me – the new toast of Halloween.

So, stay in there, don’t fear,
The pall of gloom is of the set,
He must be drawing near,
And your heart must be unlet.
