Maybe you’d reconciled,
To the world’s weird ways,
Having from your mind exiled
Desires of those dreamy days.
But, you still didn’t smile,
And how could you?
Heart stuck at the stile,
The mind had pulled through...
It wasn’t going to be a breeze,
To jazz you up, jack your joy,
With your heart only at ease,
With having love for a buoy.
It would be to no avail,
There might be no ‘ship ahoy’,
Your mind did prevail,
Adrift could be the buoy.
Oh, why did I have to oppose –
Not that my words mesmerize,
– but in wishing you a repose,
Perhaps, I nudged a reprise.
I had you stand,
On the brink of a slope,
Holding a flimsy strand,
Hoping against all hope.
To the world’s weird ways,
Having from your mind exiled
Desires of those dreamy days.
But, you still didn’t smile,
And how could you?
Heart stuck at the stile,
The mind had pulled through...
It wasn’t going to be a breeze,
To jazz you up, jack your joy,
With your heart only at ease,
With having love for a buoy.
It would be to no avail,
There might be no ‘ship ahoy’,
Your mind did prevail,
Adrift could be the buoy.
Oh, why did I have to oppose –
Not that my words mesmerize,
– but in wishing you a repose,
Perhaps, I nudged a reprise.
I had you stand,
On the brink of a slope,
Holding a flimsy strand,
Hoping against all hope.
Mea culpa...
