Day and night,
Candles burning bright,
The party has been on,
Guests have come,
guests have gone.
A candle per year,
That's my guess;
But, so many flickers,
And each seeming ageless?
She is old, very old,
And surely must know,
She must've been told:
'Make a wish and blow!'
What's taking her so long?
I am forced to wonder,
What went wrong?
Were the candles a blunder?
But then,
from being a teen,
Till she grew wise,
She should've seen,
Desire in many a guise.
Candles burning bright,
The party has been on,
Guests have come,
guests have gone.
A candle per year,
That's my guess;
But, so many flickers,
And each seeming ageless?
She is old, very old,
And surely must know,
She must've been told:
'Make a wish and blow!'
What's taking her so long?
I am forced to wonder,
What went wrong?
Were the candles a blunder?
But then,
from being a teen,
Till she grew wise,
She should've seen,
Desire in many a guise.
