Awakened Needs...

The waves were on all fours,
Tame - no need of the whip
- Processing the charted course,
And the howdah was the ship.

There was a gentle sway,
As that of a cradle in swing,
Some felt time did stay,
Others could flap a wing.

Then, the sky was gashed,
Bleeding light for a moment,
Before the silence was dashed,
By what was to be a portent.

The wind, at first, whistled,
And, in time, it began to howl,
Leaving the resters bristled,
And seeking a man in a cowl.

The captain was at the helm,
Looking for stars that'd hid,
As they entered the realm,
Of a tempest that was livid.

Hopes on a spin of the wheel,
Want - a different landscape,
As the ship did further reel,
The prayers were for an escape.

An acute turn to the right,
The ship nearly keeling over,
There could not be greater fright,
Breathing loath to be slower.

Thankful that they were afloat,
The wishes were in unison
- A safe departure of the boat,
A jailbreak from the stormy prison.

Then, the storm switched ways,
Bidding goodbye from their wake,
Wants stripped off every face,
Only needs remained awake.
