By the time the sun did set,
All my plans had been upset,
It was going to be yet another fight.
The eyes refusing to shut,
The mind thinking in a glut,
It was yet another sleepless night.
A ticking clock, a tinkling chime,
On trial again for a perceived crime,
The past's case seemed airtight.
A flash of lightning in the window,
A rash of fears waiting to harrow,
There was to be no respite.
Fishing for hope in such a stream,
I caught a glimpse I didn't want to see;
But then, a nightmare is also a dream,
And dreams don't come alive for free.
All my plans had been upset,
It was going to be yet another fight.
The eyes refusing to shut,
The mind thinking in a glut,
It was yet another sleepless night.
A ticking clock, a tinkling chime,
On trial again for a perceived crime,
The past's case seemed airtight.
A flash of lightning in the window,
A rash of fears waiting to harrow,
There was to be no respite.
Fishing for hope in such a stream,
I caught a glimpse I didn't want to see;
But then, a nightmare is also a dream,
And dreams don't come alive for free.
