I watched, sat on our porch,
The clouds bringing in the levy,
For all the Sun did scorch,
Rains would have to be rather heavy.
A teasing spray on a dry floor,
Petrichor gave away the earth's thirst;
Everyone yearning for a downpour,
One that would be the summer's first.
Our house was soon a rivulet view,
And fleets of boats were passing by,
But who did they belong to?
They seemed destined from X to Y.
The skies got darker, the flow faster,
The boats began to jostle and collide,
And then there was a mini disaster,
When some got knocked off to the side.
To rescue the transit, I did scurry,
But before I could impact the boats' fate,
Their colours deferred my worry;
Now, did they have a story to relate?
I opened a boat, back in my chair,
And saw an armada afloat in the rains,
It was the same in the next pair,
Only the shower coming down in more grains.
Meanwhile, more had crashed by the gate,
But they seemed to have a new colour;
Perhaps, the rains had stayed back too late,
The Sun was peeking in from a corner.
