The Debt...

I thought it was just another handshake,
Till you let me follow in your wake;
Wishes weren't horses, could they be 'mares?
The stirring air seemed preferable to the airs.

I braced myself for an escapade,
Ignorant of your plan of a raid;
But, as you pilfered the perceived threat,
You were walking me away from my fret.

Soon, I shared with you the giggles and the glint,
Wondering if you belonged to an exalted precinct;
In every encounter my awe did double,
How could I be fond of the formidable?

But, when you led me to that portal,
Beyond your aura of an immortal,
And your misgivings I had met,
In my comforting words, I incurred a debt.

Thank you, for letting me add my tuppence,
Indulging me, letting me ache for your presence;
For letting me depend, and significantly, to tend,
Thank you, for letting me in on me, my Friend.

PS:To all my friends, including the estranged. In particular, the 'poem' is dedicated to my dear friend, the long-time reader of my posts, who 'ordered' its writing. :)
