The Unexpected Jaunt..

Finding only books around myself,
I reached for one on a dusty shelf;
Wiping the cobweb off its cover,
Revealed a damsel in a tower;
Her coiffure long and lush,
Eyes, anxious without the rush;
The tower seemed not a trap, but her test,
To seek out amongst men the very best;
Conscious of what the book did extort,
My thoughts, I could not abort;
My imagination did not feel amiss,
I surmised the tale was of the true love's kiss;
Would she find her Prince Charming?
Had he been capable of the sought rescue?
Was this a story - heart warming?
Had I been taking the right cue?
I had to know if they'd rode on his steed,
The book, now, I had to read!
As I peeped into the first page,
I couldn't decipher the font;
Yet, the book had set the stage,
For the most unexpected jaunt.
