The on going RAM SETHU saga is something we are all acquainted with;the judicial affidavit questioning Ram's existence, the consequent hue and cry by the self-proclaimed saviors of Hinduism(read BJP and Co.),the U-turn by Ms.Gandhi's family(UPA-who else??) and now,to add the spice,NASA's "voluntary" report, based on satellite photographs, clearly stating something contrary to the popular belief.Even more despicable are the media headlines claiming a boost for the UPA following the Space Agency's report!
Its ludicrous to even ask for evidence supporting the existence of Ram,since its more a matter of faith-of the heart-than of the rational mind.Ms.Gandhi and her henchmen seem to have forgotten that they are living close to Ayodhya, and not the Vatican,in making an audacious bid to question something fundamental to Hinduism. As for NASA's revelations, which were clearly unsolicited and by no means necessary, they'd be better off trying to lay to rest the question marks against their apparent conquering of the Moon.
Faith, more often than not,is about accepting things without seeking written records and proofs of any other kind. Its about belief in answers without questions. How sick would it be if I were to term the Holy Grail a myth used by the west to justify the crusades?Or,to question if Mohammad had really spoken to the Lord's angels before recording his works in the form of the revered Quran?Seems mind-less,doesn't it?People decorating respectable positions in the society, irrespective of them being theists or not, would do much better to respect the sentiments of their fellow men;out of virtue,if not the fear of God.
It is a well known fact that faith and following certain principles, not all rational, have been responsible for the development of all civilizations of the past, and without a shadow of a doubt, will continue to influence the growth of mankind,by heralding time and again the necessity of burying the differences and living in harmony.Well, this is my faith;don't solicit a proof, for I don't have any and do not see the need for the same either! So,it would be better to live with our respective faiths and beliefs, while according the due respect to those of our fellow dwellers of the wonderful planet called Earth.
