Kudos AFP..

Apropos of the recent near 30-day detention and subsequent release of the Indian doctor Md.Haneef, despite the fact that he came dangerously close to being falsely implicated, the courage and integrity displayed by the Australian authorities in admitting their error and dropping all charges against the man are laudable. In fact, the cops in general and the Indian Police in particular have a lot to learn from their Australian counterparts.I mean, how many times have we not come across situations where the cops-supposed protectors-have tried to cover up their fallacies by resorting to means, which simply are a disgrace to the dept. they represent. The authorities down under were at least gracious enough to acknowledge the innocence of the man in detention, despite the brick-bats which were sure to follow.I hope the authorities in India will re-establish the connections with their conscience, morality and muster enough courage to do what is right i.e,to enable the release of all those under trials languishing in various parts of the country.
