Bal Thackeray, the Shiv Sena supremo,seems to be running out of ideas to revitalize his party,which has slipped into trouble since the baton has been acquired by his son.His recent comments,during an election campaign ahead of the BMC polls,at Thane were despicable to say the least,for the Martha tiger as per vox populi has always been believed to be better than this.Bala saheb,perhaps due to the absence of a manifesto or the presence of Modi,seemed to have taken a wild detour from the subject matter at hand,the BMC polls,as he nearly justified the Godhra riots and accused Congressmen of being "impotent" for what he called surrendering of power to a foreigner.The gaieties of Balasaheb were further embossed with the sarcastic remark on the executive head of the nation,President Kalam,as Thackeray ridiculed Kalam's hair style,claiming that his long hair was impeding his vision and had thus prevented him from rejecting the mercy plea of Md.Afzal.I know sarcasm is a marked trait of a cartoonist,but the derogatory nature of the comments were deplorable.It would only be in the fair interest of this nation to abate such vociferous orators,for their invectives would only augment the crisis already at hand,the crisis of communal divide,chauvinism,fanaticism & the impending violence.
